In the Jordaan district, a bourgeois bohemian neighborhood of Amsterdam, a former warehouse turned into this lovely home.
Marius Haverkamp (architect, interior designer and head of Flow company) and his wife Emily Gray (owner and designer of the Gray Label, an organic cotton clothing label for kids) discovered, renovated and transformed an old warehouse into a wonderful home for them and their 4 children.
"Strategic" parts from the industrial past of the building have been maintained and mixed harmoniously with its modern present. The beautiful red-brick wall, the industrial flooring and tall windows have tied perfectly with the kitchen, which is the heart of the home and the amazing patio, made of glass and steel.
The emblematic chandelier, from black clay, made in Africa, dominates the space and gives the decorating tone.
The ground floor has warm, inviting places where coexist with antique, design objects and modern furniture.
Jordan and Emily's aim, as they say, was to live in a house with simple, personalized decoration, where everything is mix & match but most importantly, children can move freely throughout the house.
Στην συνοικία Jordaan, μια μποέμ αστική γειτονιά του Άμστερνταμ, ένας εργοστασιακός χώρος, μετατράπηκε σε αυτό το υπέροχο σπίτι.
Ο Marius Haverkamp (αρχιτέκτονας, interior designer και επικεφαλής της εταιρείας Flow) και η γυναίκα του Emily Gray (ιδιοκτήτρια της φίρμας των οργανικών παιδικών ενδυμάτων Grey Label) ανακάλυψαν, ανακαίνισαν πλήρως και μετέτρεψαν την παλιά αποθήκη σε ένα καταπληκτικό σπίτι για αυτούς και τα 4 παιδιά τους.
Έχουν διατηρηθεί "στρατηγικά" στοιχεία από το βιομηχανικό παρελθόν του κτηρίου, και έχουν αναμιχθεί αρμονικά με το σύγχρονο παρόν του. Ο πανέμορφος τοίχος από κόκκινα τούβλα, το βιομηχανικό δάπεδο, τα πανύψηλα παράθυρα έχουν δέσει απόλυτα με την κουζίνα, που είναι και η καρδιά του σπιτιού και το υπέροχο αίθριο, φτιαγμένο από γυαλί και ατσάλι.
Ο εμβληματικός πολυέλαιος από μαύρο πηλό, φτιαγμένος στην Αφρική, δεσπόζει στον χώρο και δίνει τον τόνο στην διακόσμηση.
Το ισόγειο έχει ζεστούς, φιλόξενους χώρους όπου συνυπάρχουν αντίκες με αντικείμενα design και νεότερα έπιπλα.
Στόχος του Jordan και της Emily, όπως λένε, ήταν να ζουν σε ένα σπίτι με λιτή, προσωπική διακόσμηση, όπου τα πάντα να είναι mix & match και το σημαντικότερο να μπορούν τα παιδιά να κινούνται ελεύθερα σε όλο το σπίτι.
